Learning, Design, and Technology
Introduction
Welcome to the part of my website dedicated to the M.Ed. in Learning, Design, and Technology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte! Here you can find several pages dedicated to courses I am taking/have taken that demonstrate things I have learned and content I have produced.
Why a degree in Learning, Design, and Technology?
You may be wondering why a full-time faculty member with three degrees already would want to go back to school. It’s a fair question! I have a few reasons:
- Part of the reason I got a PhD and am currently a faculty member is because I’m a giant nerd 🙂 I love learning, and I missed being a student. When I realized that it had been 10 years since I was a student rather than a teacher, I decided it was time to invest in myself and go back to school!
- I am working toward this specific degree because I have discovered a love for professional development. My initial experiences have been with developing faculty, and I wanted to learn more about developing learners outside the academic context. I know a lot about reaching undergraduate students, but not much at all about how to reach professional adults.
- Lastly, even though I have only been a full-time faculty member for 8 years, I have already seen several educational technology fads come and go. I am not generally an early adopter of tech, but I don’t want to be a tech dinosaur, so I decided to practice with educational technology tools and work on growing my mindset toward tech.
