About Me

Professionally, I am an Associate Professor of Political Science at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. On campus I also serve as the Pre-Law Adviser, Program Coordinator of the Accelerated Law Degree Programs, and Assistant Director of the Meredith Poll. I really enjoy researching how to get women into politics, public opinion, election law and voting rights, faculty development, and how to improve political science pedagogy for today’s students. I also blog for Old North State Politics, where Michael Bitzer (Catawba College), Chris Cooper (Western Carolina University), Susan Roberts (Davidson College) and I discuss current topics in North Carolina politics.

I earned my M.A. and Ph.D. in political science and methodology from the University of Texas at Dallas and my B.A. in political science and history from the University of Oklahoma. I am currently finishing a M.Ed. in learning, design, and technology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Personally, I am married and have two children. We like to travel and try new foods. If you have a restaurant or bar recommendation in North Carolina, let me know! My current fave is La Santa in downtown Raleigh.
